Admissions Haiku
One day last year, while browsing the Harvard Square Barnes and Fauxbles, I encountered a thought provoking book: 65 Successful Harvard Business School Application Essays: With Analysis by the Staff of the Harbus, the Harvard Business School Newspaper. Hey, I thought, there's no reason why the Record can't do the same thing, if only because we have a much less silly name.

Lincoln’s Inn Gets a Fresh Start
As we start off this new year, the Lincoln's Inn has been preparing. We have washed the crimson carpet, scrubbed the checkered tiles of the basement bar and hauled copious amounts of alcohol to the house on 44 Follen (not to mention that the beer taps in the basement are back online).

Living on LIPP Panel
Student Financial Services and the Office of Public Interest Advising offered debt relief and a full Italian dinner to students in a packed Pound 101 last Thursday as recent law school graduates talked about "Living on LIPP." All four panelists had been or were still using the Low Income Protection Plan, which helps students pay off their annual loans while working for lower salaries than many of their peers.

Nearly two-thirds of the 1L class filled the seats and aisles of Austin North last Tuesday evening for the annual Public Interest Orientation. An Open Letter to the Pigeon
To the person who wrote last week's editorial, "Being the Braver Pigeon: To OCI or Not OCI": Your editorial broke my heart. It was incredibly hard to read. I kept thinking of friends of mine you might be. And this is coming from a person who has been telling people that your story is the story of elite law schools for a whole year; that while plenty of students find fulfillment at firms small and large, there are dozens, maybe even hundreds who end up shelving their government or public interest dreams for the job security and sky-high salaries of large law firms that they already know they won't like.

A Simple Solution To Class Registration Woes
Frustration. Frustration sums up my feelings about the class registration process. While I admire the registrar for its efforts to provide students with an updated system, there is one major flaw: the add/drop period does not start until the first day of class.

Kermit’s OCI Bids
After an arduous summer of tanning, drinking, and partying on the Lilly pad, Kermit was ready for OCI. He had chosen firms that had lean staffing, good compensation, excellent connections, and interesting practice areas. Now he just had to wait for the offers to start pouring in.

Non-Traditional Jobs in a Non-Traditional Market
I have a story to tell. It's not your typical law school story, and it's not your typical job search story. In fact, I can't think of a single thing that's typical about it. But that's what makes for good stories and good lessons. See, I went searching for a job.
