JAGged edge in HLS policy
I was saddened last month when I read about the Third Circuit's decision allowing universities to bar military recruiters from their campuses. And I was disturbed when I read about the immediate reaction from Harvard Law School's Dean to once again make it difficult for HLS students to learn about serving in the United States military in the Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Larry Summers’ Remarks
Harvard University President Larry Summers suggested last month (at a conference held at MIT) that innate differences between men and women might be a reason so few women reach the highest levels of academia in the science fields. A female MIT professor walked out of the room, disgusted by Summers' remark; and Summers subsequently received such bad press and negative response that he issued several public apologies.

RECORD EDITORIAL
The recent court victory by Yale Law School in challenging the Solomon Amendment marks significant progress for opponents of military recruiting policies. Along with the similar Third Circuit Decision, the Yale victory creates momentum for those seeking to challenge implementation of the Solomon Amendment and will hopefully inspire similar challenges around the country.

Yale wins court victory over military recruiting
Following the decision by Harvard Law School to ban military recruiters, Yale Law school declared last week that it would not allow military recruiters access to campus recruiting due to discriminatory practices against gays and lesbians. Unlike HLS however, which based its decision on a Third Circuit ruling, the Yale decision arises from a direct lawsuit initiated by Yale students and faculty.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Ralph Nader Speaks Out
Mindless vacation
I intended to start off the semester with a truly awesome column, something that would win me a Pulitzer, a Nobel Prize, and a trophy wife. But it didn't happen. Instead I fiddle-farted my time away watching really bad movies with really hot women (see, e.

POEM: ice skating on jarvis field
Over February, the man and the woman strode toward iron railings that guarded a cool genre of paradise. The law school pair roosted on concrete, their legs spread out before them on trapezoidal benches, in preparation for flight, the woman smoothing her index finger over silver blades, the man undulating the vertical ripples in his forearms when tightening laces.

HLS Democrats go to Washington
While the outcome of this fall's elections were less than ideal for many HLS Democrats, they have remained an active force on campus. Earlier this month, the HLS Democrats embarked on their first, of what will likely become annual, trips to the nation's capitol.

Not so super after the Super Bowl
The Super Bowl is over. All is quiet in my world until March Madness. Well, until Rivalry Week, at least, or maybe when pitchers and catchers report. I will do my best to follow college hockey, with no help from the networks. Perhaps I could even give caring about the NBA a whirl.
