Real diversity includes everyone, even conservatives. I write in response to Jon Lamberson's article "HLS to Lose Three Assistant Profs." Although it is always a shame when HLS loses intelligent, qualified, and popular professors, I fear the bent of the article misconstrues what I feel is HLS's most glaring problem in faculty diversity.

APRIL IS INDEED THE cruelest month - with the number dead in this global war on terror exceeding the century mark, averaging roughly 5 soldiers killed per day in Iraq alone - we received yet another subtle reminder that this war on terror is indeed global.

THE DRIVING RAIN AND forty-degree temperatures tell me summer's close here in Cambridge. The year's gone almost as fast as the coffee in Pound each morning, even though each class on its own seems to move as slow as the automatic handicapped doors in the Hark.

UNLESS YOU ARE ONE OF A handful of lifetime public interest devotees, you will spend some number of your working years in the private sector earning a rather high income. The law school community, being what it is, chooses to acknowledge this reality when it can get money from you - helping you to monetize your future earning via student loans - and ignore it for all other purposes, sending the average HLS graduate off without much, if any, financial management instruction.

On Tuesday, a customer picked out a 6" lemon meringue pie and asked for it to be cut in half so he could eat it more easily. "I just pick them up and eat them like cookies," suggested Renee McLeod, owner and driving force behind Somerville's Petsi Pies. What about when you get meringue on your nose? MY TIME IS UP AS EDITOR-in-chief of The Record, as well as my involvement with this newspaper. It has been an honor and a privilege to bring the news to the Law School community, whether as a reporter learning the tricks of the trade as I went, or in my current leadership position, though I still seem to be learning the tricks with each new issue.

THE HIRING - AND FIRING - of professors is nothing short of an annual rite at Harvard Law School. In a school filled with such contentious ideological debate, the entry and exit of particular advocates is a ritual marked by exuberation and angst. And not just among students.

13 Going on 30 is the kind of movie that you probably either really want to see or really don't. (More than for even your average "chick flick," that division is likely to fall pretty starkly along gender lines - if the estrogen-heavy audience I watched it with is at all representative.

Before responding to the letter below, which I clearly made up myself, I wanted to make a few acknowledgements, as this is my last column. First, I would like to thank Adam White for coming up with the idea for this column and asking me to write it, despite the fact that the April Fools' Fenno clearly demonstrated that he could have done a better job with it than I have.

Fenno grinned. It was finally time. At long, long last, after three years of seeing it and wanting it and having to restrain himself, he could do it. Under the watchful eye of one of the fungible proctors, Fenno fulfilled his fantasy and checked The Box. The Box held so much promise.

I've been thinking about what to do with this, my last teary-eyed spot in The Record for some time now. After three full years of writing almost-weekly 10,000 word monsters on all manner of esoteric bands with recklessly self-indulgent allusions in almost every paragraph, it frankly is hard to know how to outdo myself by way of closure.

In a move that many students see as troubling, Harvard Law School will be losing three tenure-track assistant professors at the end of the year. Prof. Diane Ring will be leaving HLS for a tenured position at the University of Florida. Prof. Margo Schlanger and her husband Prof. Samuel Bagenstos will both be accepting tenured positions at Washington University in St. Louis. Their impending departures have left many students asking why some of their favorite professors will not be returning to HLS in the Fall.
