On Monday, April 10, the author who inspired and terrified a generation of law students addressed a packed Ames Courtroom. Scott Turow '78 had returned to Harvard Law School. Turow began his talk on "Life and Death After HLS," which was sponsored by the HLS Forum, by acknowledging that at HLS he is more famous for the nonfiction work that he composed as a student than for the four best-selling novels which received more popular acclaim.

Student fundraising for public interest faces uphill battle
With two nights of telephone calls remaining in this year's Student Funded Fellowships (SFF) phone-a-thon campaign, the campaign's organizers are hoping for a significant increase in student support to meet their fundraising goals. Another Modest Proposal
Those in the Western Hemisphere may not be aware of a shocking travesty of liberty being perpetuated upon men in the East, one that has somehow survived virtually 5,000 years of East Asian history. Borne originally of China, this unjust practice quickly and insidiously infected such neighboring countries as Korea and Japan, traversing time and space through a pervasive philosophy known as Confucianism.

Letter
Sam Goodstein's courageous en-dorsement of statistics over ideology in the gun control debate certainly ennobles us all. [RECORD; March 23, 2001] How dismaying, then, to find that he is not above a little statistical prestidigation [sic] of his own! None of the numbers he cites says anything about the relationship between gun ownership, crime, and safety.

Fenno
Fenno sat on the couch and flipped aimlessly through the channels, stopping on a new Arthur Miller special called "Taking Your Ball and Going Home: How to Get Your Way by Sulking." Fenno marveled at Miller's ability to look dignified while describing how he had gotten everything he had ever wanted at HLS simply by threatening to quit if his wishes were not granted.

Racism at HLS: Seeing both sides
Recent events have left many at the Law School wondering why intolerance seems to have found a home at Harvard. However, such sentiments are not unanimously held. Recent events have created a division among students. Some feel that 1L Kiwi Camara's outline was a naive blunder not motivated by racism -- or at least not motivated by hate.
